Hey guys, it’s been a long time since I updated this series. I know I always apologize and then I leave you hanging. This story along with Diary of a Sheltered Teen was the debut series of this blog and for the past two years have been left incomplete. In this anniversary month, starting from today, the anniversary day, I’m going to dedicate time and energy to complete these series. Please enjoy this little something I put together today. Kindly read from the episode one to refresh yourselves. Thank you for being patient.
With love, Baawa.
All the way down to her car, she kept thinking if she needed to tell her mom that her dad dropped by at her new workplace. Matter of fact, how did he even find her. Well, irrespective of how he came there, she hoped to God that he got the message and would ultimately steer clear of her like he’d been doing.
“So, are you going to tell your mom?” Kitty asked jostling her out of her thoughts
“I don’t know but I really don’t want her to be blindsided like I was.”
“Then tell her he’s back in town” Kitty advised
“I hate that he’s trying to mess with us all over again especially now that it seems my mom is trying to move on”
“Oh, you mean?” Kitty asked with surprise etched on her face
“Yes ma’am. She is finally giving that poor man a chance. He’s been coming over sometimes and he’s even planning on asking her out on a date soon”
“Way to go Mr Wilson!” Kitty cheered and she laughed
“Wait a minute Missy, why am I now finding this out? We are still best friends, right?” Kitty feigned hurt
“Kitty, stay out of grown folk business”, Carla warned scaring both of them
“Carla! What was that for?”
“You two are always engrossed in your conversations. Try not to get robbed or kidnapped. Be more aware of your surroundings especially in parking lots.”
“Nothing bad is going to happen here, C. This building is secure.”
“Yet Kara’s dad found his way in somehow.”
“But that was a one-off, sis”
“Aht aht, one chance is all a bad person needs to hurt you, Kitty Kat”
“Carla’s right. We need to be more careful. We’re grown now. We need to be more responsible.”
“Ever the reasonable person. Be more like Kara, Kitty.” turning to Kara, “I’m sorry about that, Kara. I told security to never let him through.”
“That’s alright. Thank you, Carla” Kara said
“I have to get going now and so do both of you. I don’t expect you girls to be late. Bye,” and she hopped in her car and left.
“Need a ride?” Kara asked
“Nope, I brought my car. It’s over there.” she pointed out her red Hyundai
“Great. My car is just right here. I’ll watch you get in and we drive off together.” Kara said
“Cool. See you tomorrow”
They both got situated in their cars and drove off one after the other.
The traffic to her side of town was bad for some reason. So, Kara got home a little later than she expected to.
Strolling into her house, she called out to her mom.
“In the kitchen” Elena replied
“Oh hey, Mr Wilson”
Good evening, Kara. Your mom said you got a job at Carla McHinson’s company.”
“Yes, I did,” she said greeting her mom with a kiss on the cheek
“How was work? Did you like it?” her mom asked
“It was really good. Let me go and freshen up” and then she excused herself.
After some minutes, she came back to meet just her mom in the kitchen.
“What happened, mom? Where’s Mr Wilson?”
“Oh, he’s been called in for an emergency at the hospital,” she said
“Oh, I hope everything goes well. I was looking forward to our “family” dinner”
“Kara, he’s just a friend”
“Is that so? Then I’m the president then” she teased
“Girl, go and set the table”
“Yes, ma’am”
Later at the dinner table, “so, tell me about work today?”
She narrated the events of the day animatedly.
“Sounds like you finally found something you enjoy. But I’m sensing you’re holding out on something. What is it?”
“You know me so well”
“Of course, I raised you. Now spill”
“There’s no easy way to say this so here goes nothing. My dad is back in town.”
“What? Since when? And how do you know?”
“He came to Carla’s”
“What?! As a client?”
“Nope, he came looking for me”
“How did he know you worked there and what did he want?”
“I don’t know mom. We didn’t speak. I had security escort him out”
“Oh but-”
“But nothing, mom”
“Alright. I’ll drop it but don’t you want to know how he knew you were there?”
“No, not really”
“Okay” then they continued to have their dinner and engaging in small talk. The topic of her father swept under the rug.
Meanwhile, in the house across the street, a man was spying on the two women.
