The Case of Hot Oven Bread

Well hey there. I know I just posted but I guess I need to write this. It’s been on my mind this morning. I like bread a lot especially freshly baked bread. The aroma is extremely pleasing to me. It literally warms my heart and yesterday I was thinking about how happy I get when I get a whiff of freshly baked bread and my spirit was telling me that you see how happy you get when you smell that? That is exactly how God feels when we obey Him. I was surprised but then I thought about it because Scripture says in Romans 5:19 that “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous”

And I kept on thinking and I realized that God wants our total surrender and obedience so anytime we obey His word we put a smile on His face just like I get when I catch a whiff of freshly baked bread.

On to the next point about bread (Ha! You thought this bread business was over?) Over a year ago, I moved to a new place and as per the norm, I had to get a bread plug because I hadn’t learnt how to bake it yet. (I am still learning. My bread isn’t perfect yet) So, I found one and it wasn’t really delicious now that I think about it but I kept going for it as often as I could because bread and egg is one of my absolute faves. But one day, my mom came home with a different brand of bread and since then I haven’t been able to eat the bread from the first brand. The satisfaction and enjoyment really aren’t the same. So, here’s what I thought this morning; When you accept Jesus as your saviour, according to 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

So, just like my taste buds adjusted to the superior quality of the second bread brand, when we come to Christ, we must also be adjusted to the superior quality of righteous living. When people see us, they must instantly be able to tell Whose we are. Our lives must reflect the Christ we profess with our mouths.

P.S: This post per usual took a whole different angle. But the story remains the same; I am unashamed to be a Christian.
