A Letter To Tee

Dear Tee,

You’ve gotten your heart broken again and you are thinking it’s all your fault. It could be true but don’t beat yourself up about it.

I’m not saying don’t feel what you’re feeling don’t get me wrong. I’m saying don’t stay there. Don’t wallow in self-pity or bashing. Take responsibility for the part you played and pick up your lessons and keep it moving.

I’ve been where you are. I’ve also looked into the mirror and asked what exactly is wrong with me and why does everyone just ups and leaves?

Here’s what I’ve come to understand: it’s not always about me. There’s actually a grander scheme of things and I probably don’t fit into it. People leave because the part they play or the part you play in their lives has come to an end.

When you understand that, everything will eventually make sense and you begin to hold onto people a little bit loosely than you’re used to. Nothing is 100% guaranteed in this life except God’s love of course.

When I get my heart broken, in the beginning, I listen to all the breakup songs. Here’s my list:

I can’t remember some of the songs but this should do.

After I listen for a while, I then get back to my senses and realize I’m a child of God so I ask God to heal my heart and restore my desire to love and be loved. He comes through all the time and then I go back to my regular programming.

You’ll have moments when you relive the hurt. You’re allowed to feel but don’t stay there. Darkness doesn’t last forever. There’s always morning.

Fun fact: I write quite well when I’m in pain. So, I guess that’s the silver lining.

Tee, you’re a 100% that chick. Go out there and live like one.

If someone cheats on you, remember that it’s not you. It’s actually them. They are no good ones. Don’t blame you. Put it on them where it rightfully belongs.

I honestly hope this letter helps someone.

There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Don’t lose hope and faith. There’s someone magnificent out there for you.

Love you.
