Since the pandemic hit, I have seen a lot of comments and posts cancelling the year 2020. I admit that some of the jokes got a laugh out of me but after the laughter had died down, I was deeply saddened by how much we disregard the power of our words.
Yes, the events that have taken place so far have been quite unexpected, to put it mildly. Families have lost loved ones to the virus and other situations. And it’s okay to mourn with them. We must jubilate with those that are jubilating and also mourn with those mourning.
What we shouldn’t do is create a nightmare for ourselves with our utterances. Our words carry weight. We have the power to create something out of nothing just like our Creator because the Bible says we are created in His image and likeness. That means we have some of Him in us.
I read somewhere that you’re not done until you’re dead. And if you are reading this then you are definitely not dead. Bad things may have happened to you or someone else. You may be hurting but you are not dead yet. Grieve what or who you have lost but don’t get lost in your grief that you miss out on life.
We are just ending the seventh month. There is a lot that can happen in the next five months. If 2020 hasn’t taught us anything at all, it has taught us that a lot can occur in a week.
My plea is that let your words create a better life for you. The year is not over. Speak life into it for you and yours.
Jekalyn Carr’s song It’s Yours literally talks about us having everything we declare. Therefore, I’m asking you all to speak good things into the year. Even if everyone has discounted 2020, be the exception and watch God move.
Have a wonderful rest of the year.
