“Dang it!” she muttered

“Kara, what is the problem?” Kitty asked through clenched teeth

“Carla’s guest is the jerk from the parking lot” she whispered

“Would you two stop whispering and come over here” Carla ordered

“Sorry” they apologised

Carla turned to her guest, “This is Katherine McHinson, my sister and Kara Miller, my sister’s friend. They would be running point on your parent’s anniversary”

Turning to the girls she said, “This is Paul Matthews, he is planning his parents’ 35th wedding anniversary”

Kitty extended her hand, “Nice to meet you”
Mentally rolling her eyes, Kara fixed her brightest smile, “It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr Matthews”

“Is it?” he questioned with a rich baritone voice

“We already met”, Paul said to Carla

Totally confused, Carla raised an eyebrow in a bid to get more information.

“Sort of. He stole my parking spot this morning” Kara explained

“Kara!” Carla exclaimed, “That is no way to address a client”

Turning to Paul, “I am so sorry. Please pardon her”

“No problem”, smiling to Kara he said with a wink, “Parking spots can’t be stolen”

Kitty being so close to Kara pinched her to keep her from engaging the client any further in front of her sister.

Carla exited the conference room with Kitty at her heels leaving Paul and Kara alone in the conference room.

“So, we’ll be working together huh?” Paul smirked

“Unfortunately, yes” Kara scowled

“Unfortunately? I am your next paycheck. You need to treat me better”

With a bit of internal scoffing and eye-rolling, she turned to him and said, “Can we get this show on the road?”

“We definitely can”

They spent a good hour discussing his parents and what their relationship was in his opinion. Kara noticed that when it came to his family, he wasn’t that much of a jerk. He actually looked handsome. They were however interrupted by the Kitty who came to inform Kara that she had a visitor.

She followed her to the reception and was completely thrown by what she saw.
